Prompt 1

1. Describe what's going on in detail or write a story based off the action in the painting.
2. Write from the POV of a TV remote.

As previously stated on the group's Facebook page, each piece of writing should be at least three stanzas if it is a poem and half a page if it is a story. For short writing exercises like this I guess that they shouldn't be too long either, so if it's a story try and not make it too long and I can't really see many of you writing terribly long poems so we just won't worry about those.

I'll be posting a few more things on the group tonight. I'm really excited about being able to communicate about our writing better, so you'll have to forgive me.

  1. Remote Green 1

Someone stuffs me under the couch
    Again. Sticky black faux-leather
Grabs at the rubber of my buttons.
Why can’t anyone treat me right?

    Again. Sticky black faux-leather
Make up the walls of my prison.
Why can’t anyone treat me right?
I think the cat is peeing on me.

Make up the walls of my prison
With clean air and the glass table.
I think the cat is peeing on me
    After all these months.

With clean air and the glass table
I can finally see what I was meant to do.
    After all these months
Someone presses my buttons with intent.

I can finally see what I was meant to do.
Someone stuffs me under the couch and
    After all these months,
Grabs at the rubber of my buttons.

  2. The trees are falling,
    no longer stalling,
    they're coming home today.

    Birds will fly north,
    but for whatever it's worth,
    they're coming home today.

    The bells ring out,
    ending this musical drought,
    they're coming home today.

    My brother has gotten worse
    with this infectious curse.
    But, they're coming home today.

    What did they learn?
    Do they still yearn?
    They're coming home today.

    Have they found the cure?
    One so perfect and pure?
    They're coming home today.

    Everything will be just fine,
    His eyes to forever shine,
    because, today, they're coming home.
